Christopher House was founded in 1906 during the settlement house movement. Since then, we have become a leader in piloting innovative programs. The last decade at Christopher House has been a time of tremendous growth, culminating in the opening of our James & Jean Stewart Campus in 2013 and the realization of our birth-8th grade model with the graduation of the Class of 2021.
Today, Christopher House is a family of schools that provides children with personalized, high quality education coupled with immersive family supports for the entire family that prepare them for success in life, school, and the workplace. We partner with families to provide a continuum of education for students from birth through 8th grade as well as adult educational programs that create stable, self-sufficient families.
Our Personalized, High-Quality Curriculum
We deliver high-quality, personalized, Reggio Emilia inspired education through year-round programming, both full-day and part-day options available. Our curriculum is research-based and developmentally appropriate. We conduct ongoing child assessment to provide individualized support for all children.
We’re NAEYC (National Association for the Education of Young Children) accredited – a distinction awarded to only 10% of early learning schools across the country – we have received the highest Gold Circle of Quality ranking from ExceleRate Illinois, which is a the highest recognition standard in Illinois.

All of our classrooms and centers have highly qualified teachers and directors who are dedicated to serving our scholars and partnering with parents each and every day. Each of our lead teachers have a degree, with specializations in early childhood and/or infant toddler learning and development. Our Director holds Level 3 Directors Credential – the highest credential available. All of our educators receive continuous professional development to deliver high impact, data driven child outcomes and kindergarten readiness.

Christopher House’s family of schools – Infant and Preschool, Elementary and Middle School, After School, and Parent School – provides a continuum of high-quality, personalized education from birth through 8th grade. We incorporate a unique, data-driven, two generation approach that provides comprehensive support to the family as a whole.
